A Message From Outgoing President Carrie Barnes

For the past three years, it has been my joy and honor to lead the Noe Valley Democratic Club. I am grateful for your trust in me as we reestablished the club as a space where productive discussions would be held on substantive issues – where we knew we might not always agree but we would be willing to hear each other out. Together, we accomplished our goal to strengthen the political voice of Noe Valley.

It’s been a while since that first member meeting out back at Valley Tavern on October 27, 2021. Since that time, we navigated meetings during waves of Covid, weathered several recalls, and made consequential endorsements in five elections. We also organized many debates and discussions in the Town Square, spotlighting the policy and priorities that were top of mind for members and voters districtwide, such as our Crime and Public Safety Forum, Housing Policy Conversation, and Revitalize Downtown SF Town Hall. Our club attracted the attention of citywide leaders, and Noe maintained its reputation as one of highest turnout neighborhoods in the City.

The success of our efforts is also due to an engaged membership and a thoughtful, committed Board. Although I decided not to run again for Club President, I leave you in GREAT hands. I am confident that the newly elected Board will continue our approach to engaging with policy makers in meaningful discussion; listening with care to a range of viewpoints before deciding on our own; and understanding that fighting for what we believe in is as important as bringing people along with us.

A heartfelt thank you to the community we built. I look forward to seeing you as a fellow Noe Valley Dems member out back at Valley Tavern in the future!

Thank you,

Carrie Elise Barnes
